EcoStar Accredited Tourism Operator

In 2026, eGuide was formally recognised as an EcoStar Accredited Business through Australia’s Quality Tourism Framework.

EcoStar Accreditation is awarded to tourism businesses that demonstrate the highest standards of environmental management, going beyond the requirements of standard Sustainable Tourism Accreditation. eGuide’s operations have been assessed against recognised national standards, giving our guests confidence that our commitment is supported by genuine policies, practical actions and ongoing environmental management—not simply words.

To achieve EcoStar Accreditation, eGuide demonstrated its commitment to:

  • Reducing the environmental impact of our tours and transport.

  • Protecting Tasmania’s natural environment and wildlife.

  • Supporting conservation and sustainable tourism.

  • Identifying and responsibly managing environmental risks.

  • Respecting Tasmania’s cultural and heritage values.

  • Supporting local communities and tourism businesses.

  • Helping visitors understand and appreciate the places they explore.

Addressing Our Carbon Emissions

eGuide has measured and offset 100% of the Scope 1 and Scope 2 carbon emissions for the 2025/2026 financial year generated by our operations.

As part of our wider environmental commitment, we supported local environmental stewardship at the Emu Valley Rhododendron Garden in Burnie, Tasmania.

Our contribution supports tree planting, landscape restoration and the long-term management of this remarkable 11-hectare garden. This work helps capture carbon, enhance biodiversity and preserve one of Tasmania’s most significant regional gardens.

By partnering with a local not-for-profit community garden, eGuide is taking practical action close to home. Our contribution supports conservation, environmental education, community involvement and sustainable tourism in North-West Tasmania.

Carbon offsetting is only one part of our approach. Our modern, fuel-efficient vehicle fleet helps reduce emissions, while careful route and operational planning allows us to minimise unnecessary travel and combine passengers wherever practical.

Reducing Single-Use Waste

eGuide is working with Plastic Free Places Tasmania to reduce single-use waste across our tours and transport services.

Changes already being introduced include:

  • Replacing printed brochures with digital information accessed through QR codes.

  • Encouraging guests to bring reusable water bottles and coffee cups.

  • Replacing disposable paper wristbands with reusable lanyards and wooden passes.

  • Using washable containers for tour catering and shared platters.

  • Replacing individually wrapped biscuits with bulk supplies served from reusable containers.

  • Choosing recyclable aluminium or glass packaging when reusable alternatives are not practical.

We are also exploring further improvements, including reusable water bottles that guests can borrow during tours and branded reusable bottles and cups.

These practical changes reduce unnecessary waste while allowing us to continue providing a comfortable, safe and enjoyable experience for our guests.

Travel with a Responsible Local Operator

Choosing eGuide means travelling with an independently accredited, locally based Tasmanian operator that accepts responsibility for its environmental impact.

We are committed to protecting Tasmania’s natural environment, supporting local communities and continually improving the way we operate.

Travel responsibly. Explore thoughtfully. Help us protect Tasmania for future generations.

Our Fleet

eGuide has invested in a modern, energy-efficient fleet, with all vehicles from 2024 or later and fitted with AdBlue technology, using hybrid models where possible.

Assets for Passengers

We’ve eliminated plastic waste by providing guests with reusable water bottles and, for cruise passengers, recyclable fabric tickets in the form of wearable buffs.

Proud to support one of North West Tasmania’s premier cultural events — eGuide is a major sponsor of the International Mural Fest, a major celebration that brings together artists from around the world to showcase their talents and transform Sheffield into an open-air gallery.
